Abstract:This study explores the pathways through which older adults access social care services from the perspective of demand spillover theory. Based on survey data from three cities and six counties in Shaanxi Province, China, the study found that the demand for elderly care services spills over following a pattern of 'individual-family-government and public welfare organizations' according to physical functioning, family caregiving capacity, and socioeconomic resources. The findings provide a theoretical framework for establishing the correspondence between the supply and demand of social care services and for targeted service delivery.
