Xin Ding, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and a supervisor of master’s students. He was selected for the Young Scholars track of China’s National Overseas Talent Recruitment Program. He received his B.Sc. in Statistics from Anhui University in 2014, his M.S. in Statistics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA, in 2016, and his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of British Columbia, Canada, in 2021, under the supervision of Professor Z. Jane Wang, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and an IEEE Fellow, and Professor William J. Welch, an ASA Fellow. He joined the School of Artificial Intelligence at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in 2023. His research focuses on probabilistic generative models, knowledge distillation, and AI for Science, with applications in healthcare, meteorology, and related fields. He serves as the principal investigator of one General Program project and one Young Scientists Fund project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), one General Program project under the Jiangsu Provincial Special Fund for Basic Research (Basic Research Program), one Nanjing Science and Technology Innovation Project for Overseas Returnees (Category C), and one talent start-up grant from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. He also participates in another NSFC General Program project. He has published more than ten first-authored papers in leading international journals and conferences, including IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TMM, IEEE TSP, ESWA, Neurocomputing, ICLR, and AAAI. He has served as a reviewer and/or program committee member for internationally recognized conferences and journals, including AAAI, IJCAI, ICIP, IEEE SPL, ESWA, and Neurocomputing.
