Ren Wang is an associate professor at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). He focuses on land-atmosphere interactions to investigate the response and feedback of extreme hydroclimate under global change. Specifically, his work involves utilizing big data (observations and simulations), remote sensing, machine learning, and physical modeling to investigate:
1. Key physical/biogeochemical processes in land-atmosphere interactions (e.g., evapotranspiration, energy balance).
2. Response and feedback of hydrology-vegetation ecosystems to climate variability.
3. Extreme hydroclimatic events (e.g., droughts) for disaster risk reduction.
He obtained PhD from Sun Yat-sen University (advisor: Dr. Jianyao Chen) and MS from Fujian Normal University (advisor: Dr. Xingwei Chen). During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting PhD student at Columbia University (advisor: Dr. Pierre Gentine). Prior to joining NUIST, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Geography, Nanjing Normal University.
