Profile

Dr. Ren Wang is an associate professor at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). His research focuses on land-atmosphere interface processes to investigate the response and feedback mechanisms of hydroclimatic system under global change. Specifically, his work involves utilizing big data (observations and simulations), remote sensing, deep learning, and physical modeling to investigate:

1. Key physical/biogeochemical processes in land-atmosphere interactions (e.g., evapotranspiration, water/heat exchange).

2. Response and feedback of hydrological cycle-vegetation ecosystems under climate change.

3. Laws and mechanisms of extreme hydroclimatic events (e.g., droughts, heatwaves) for disaster risk reduction.

He obtained Ph.D. from Sun Yat-sen University, Guanzhou (2019). During his doctoral studies, he was a joint Ph.D. student at Columbia University in New York (2017-2018, Advisor: Prof. Pierre Gentine). Before joining NUIST, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Geography, Nanjing Normal University (09/2019-03/2022).
